Snowmaking Improvements at Black:
Black Mountain has been working hard to install new snowmaking equipment this summer. The mountain has purchased 5 new mobile SMI fan guns and 10 tower-mounted SMI guns. On a recent post to Facebook, the non-profit ski area showed all 10 tower guns are now installed along the St. John and Allagash trails. Check out the video below

Mt. Abram Ski Club Receives Grant:
The Mt. Abram Ski Club has recently been awarded a $5,000 grant to help local youth with scholarships for winter snow sports. The grant, which is from the Northern Forest Center, has $70,000 to help over 20 local initiatives across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. Read more below.

Snowcross Mountain Homes:
Sugarloaf just announced their new Snowcross Mountain Homes. The location is off the West Mountain expansion near the West Mountain Double and West Mountain Crosscut Trail. Learn more about this exciting new development below.

BIG Win For Big Moose:
This past week, we saw a big win for the Non-Profit Greenville Mountain. Both US Senators, King and Collins, announced $500,000 for the ski area. Read the full article below:

Help Name Titcomb’s New T-Bar:
You can vote or suggest new names for Titcomb Mountain’s new T-Bar. As of writing this, the top two names in the running are “Sandy River Speeder” and “Forster’s Flyer”. Cast your vote or suggest a new name below.

45 North at Sugarloaf will be offering live music every Monday, all summer long. See the full schedule below.

Star Party Atop Quill Hill:
Enjoy the dark sky of the Rangeley Lakes area atop Quill Hill. Drive to the summit for an unforgettable experience. The event takes place on Wednesday, August 13. Learn more and sign up below.

Oquossoc Day 2025:
Take a trip down memory lane at Oquossoc Day – Saturday, August 16th! The Fabulous ’50s is the Oquossoc Day theme for 2025 and offers fun for all ages. This all-day event kicks off at 10 a.m. in downtown Oquossoc. Oquossoc Day is made possible by the generosity and community spirit of Oquossoc businesses and friends of Oquossoc. Learn more below.

Sugarloaf Bike Park’s Newest Trail Open:
The trail that has been making headlines recently is now open for riders. Sugarloaf Bike Park’s Syncline, their long, flowing, easy trail is now open. This first section connects to a new stretch of Emerald, just above the bottom of Boulder Dash, and features a fun boulder option along with two beginner-friendly rollers and jumps. While Syncline will eventually offer a top-to-bottom beginner green circle trail experience, the whole route is still under construction and expected to open in full in September. Keep an eye out for updates! Go break in that new trail!

Summer Après Series at Sugarloaf:
Sugarloaf will once again be hosting the Summer Après Series on the Beach. The free concerts on the beach will be performed by the the following artists on the dates below.
- Friday August 22 – Seagrass
- Friday, September 26 – Jordan Kaulback

Swig and Swing:
Registration is now open for Sugarloaf’s 7th Annual Swig and Swing event at the Sugarloaf Golf Course. Happening on Friday, October 10, don’t miss it. Sign up and learn more below.

Last Chair:
Another steller week here in the Maine mountains. Warm temps and sunny skies kicked off our week with great conditions to get out on the course, trails, lakes, or anything else you and your family enjoy during the warm, summer months.
Weather:
Cool and dry conditions lead us into August as we’re looking at sunny skies and our thermometers dipping lower than we’ve seen in a while. Don’t fear as the extended forecast shows that summer is returning soon.
