Last Chair:

If it weren’t for the wind… This week we saw harsh conditions after the thaw, then freeze which closed most trails around the state. Followed by strong winds keeping lifts closed, we’re hoping to pull away from the wacky weather and get back on track with sunshine and warm temps. See the full weather report below and make sure to keep an eye on our Resort Status page as all of some resorts have already closed for the season.

Gear Theft Around The State:

There have been multiple incidents of theft happening around the state at various mountains. While this could be a total accident, please make sure you are putting your skis/snowboards on the racks (and remember where you put it), snapping into your skis when you head out onto the hill, and leaving for the day with your equipment. If you happen to take someone’s gear by accident, make sure to reach out to the resort that the accident happened at. It can also help put out a Facebook post on that mountain’s group. What a rollercoaster of a week! We started with some warm temperatures, getting upwards of 40 degrees during mid-day, and then we got rain, followed by snow, followed by wind. There have been multiple incidents of theft happening around the state at various mountains. While this could be a total accident, please make sure you are putting your skis/snowboards on the racks (and remember where you put it), snapping into your skis when you head out onto the hill, and leaving for the day with your equipment. If you happen to take someone’s gear by accident, make sure to reach out to the resort that the accident happened at. It can also help put out a Facebook post on that mountain’s group. Last Chair:

Thankfully the earlier forecasts of ra*n have held off and delivered snow instead. Thursday saw snow totals of upwards of 6 inches, adding to the running month total of over 5 feet! As the resorts are looking better by the day, It’s time to start booking your trip!

Last Chair:

Early this week Mother Nature made it hard to get outside. With wind gusts exceeding 90 miles an hour at the top of Sugarloaf on Tuesday, you can expect what that will do to ski lifts. Thankfully, the state saw what I would say is an apology as we had sun and relatively warm temps for the remainder of the week.

Well… Today is windy. Thankfully, the wind should be leaving tonight leaving a great weekend of February Vacation. Warm temps and sunshine are on tap this weekend as we finish one of the best weeks in skiing. Keep an eye on the Mountain Lift Status page to stay in the loop with the current lift status.

What a week if you like to ski powder! With what felt like daily storms this past week bringing the 7-day total to upwards of 15 inches of snow, depending on where you go. The best news: it’s not stopping! We’re tracking some serious snow coming up. Keep doing those snow dances, Mainely Skiers.

Calling all kids 12 and under, Every Sunday at Saddleback, the Saddleback Ski School will be hosting the event. WinterKids Downhill 24:

It’s not too soon to start talking about the 13th. Annual WinterKids Downhill 24 at Sugarloaf. The event happens on February 27 and 28. For more information, to register, or donate, click the link below! Best of luck to anyone competing!

Statewide Lift Construction:

Across the state, there are three mountains that are installing chairlifts. Pleasant Mountain is installing a refurbished Doppelmayr High-Speed Quad, BigRock Mountain is installing a new Doppelmayr Quad, and Lost Valley is installing a used Hall Double Chair.

Pleasant Mountain:

As of Sun, December 22

On Sunday, Pleasant Mountain opened the lift to the public. While the official ribbon cutting ceremony is happening tomorrow, you can still ride the new lift and enjoy the faster ride to the top.

BigRock Mountain:

As of Sat, December 21

On Saturday, BigRock opened the Sunrise Quad. This new quad is a gamechanger to the area.

Lost Valley:

As of Tues, January 28

On Tuesday, Lost Valley posted photos and videos showing the first chair on the new lift.

Last Chair:

This past week we saw some great skiing, albeit cold, it was great to see new snow (and not from the HKD sticks). Good news is that the new snow is continuing and we can see anywhere from 4-9 during this storm. Keep doing those snow dances, Mainely Skiers!

While we’re looking at some colder temps this weekend, the incoming snow should help make things feel a little warmer. It’s still a good idea to check in with those around you and take breaks often when skiing with little ones. Check in with the Mountain Lift Status page to stay in the loop with current lifts.

Last Chair:

WOOO I’m glad we’re out of that one! This past week brought some serious cold. With the wind chills, we saw temps in the double digits – that is if you put a negative sign in front of it all! Thankfully, looking ahead, the sun and warmer temps are headed back! Props to everyone who braved the cold for some fresh conditions. All of our resorts we cover are once again open so check out the Resort Status page!

Weather:

The temps are looking warmer… as long as you don’t look at the lows. The silver lining for the negative numbers is that snowmakers will be cranking on all cylinders. The sun will make an appearance on Saturday (which is what I’m bidding for at Sugarloaf’s Charity Summitx Auction). This weekend might be a good one to crack into the hand warmers, the official maracas of all skiers, and keep an eye out on the little ones you’re with. Check in with the Mountain Lift Status page to stay in the loop with current lifts.
