BIG News From Sunday River:

Just announced – Two new lifts will be taking skiers and riders up the mountains of Sunday River. A new Merrill Hill Triple will access the back side of the mountain and add to the Real Estate options and ski-in, and ski-out house lots. Also, the most highly anticipated announcement, a brand new, Doppelmayr High-Speed, 6-Person Bubble chair will replace the Barker Mountain Express. Both lift upgrades are expected to open for the 2023-2024 ski season. For the latest on the Sunday River 2030 project, click the link below.

The King Of The Mountain Hill Climb is taking place on Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22. This two-day event is presented by Hight Family of Dealerships, BOSS Power Equipment, and WIN Waste Innovations. There is no more spots available in any race. Spectators are welcome! A new Merrill Hill Triple will access the back side of the mountain and add to the Real Estate options and ski-in, and ski-out house lots. Also, the most highly anticipated announcement, a brand new, Doppelmayr High-Speed, 6-Person Bubble chair will replace the Barker Mountain Express. Closing Day At Saddleback:

It’s closing weekend at Saddleback. Join the Saddleback Family for the last day of the season on Saturday, April 15, 2023. It’s been one heck of a season – let’s all come together for one last ride. Also, catch the closing day festivities happening throughout the day:

  • WinterKids End Of Season Offers (All Day) – In celebration of a great season on the slopes, Saddleback is offering WinterKids app members 1 Free Junior lift ticket with a full-price adult ticket on Saturday, April 15th. This is the last day of the 22/23 winter season and your last chance to ski and ride at Saddleback this winter!
  • Enter To Win A LineX Cooler (All Day) – Enter to win a LineX Cooler stuffed with Saddleback Swag. The winner will be annoucned at 4pm and you must be present to win. May the odds be ever in your favor.
  • Mid Mountain Lodge Open House (11-2pm) – Come take a tour of the new Mid Mountain Lodge. While the Restaurant and Restrooms aren’t open, you still can get inside and check out what crews have been hard at work doing.
  • DJ Eric On The Deck (1-5pm) – DJ Eric will be spinning the tunes on the deck from 1 to 5 pm. Come bask in the sun and enjoy some great beats.

Barker Lift Send-Off:

It’s the last hurrah! Join the Sunday River crew over on Barker Basin for the final send off. It’s the weekend of April 15-16 for final rides on the Barker Express. In addition, enter to win the chance to ride the final chair on the Barker Express, and take home a chair from the lift for yourself. For more information, click the link below.

  • Rewind & Grind Rail Jam (4-6pm) – Get Spring Bash 2023 started by grinding the steel! This is a FREE rail jam, open to the public, to both skiers and riders. DJ Eric from AudiblEvents will be spinning some tracks on the deck while everyone throws down. Come ride and watch!
Saturday, April 8
  • Pond Skim (12-1pm) – Come watch or participate in this unique experience of skiing on non-frozen snow.
  • BBQ on Deck (12:30-1:30pm) – Enjoy a cookout following the pond skim.
  • Motor Booty Affair (4-6pm) – The best way to end the day. Get your groove on with Motor Booty Affair either in the lodge or on the deck depending on the weather.

Barker Lift Send-Off:

Calling all kids 12 and under, Every Sunday at Saddleback, the Rangeley Alpine Ski Club will be co-hosting this event with the Saddleback Ski School. From 1-2, the gates will be open for racing followed by awards on the deck. contact the Ski School desk to sign up. The race takes place on skiers right of Royal Tiger, just below the Rangeley Chair. March has really been active with the snow. Saddleback is reporting 64” of snow in just March alone. Keep doing those snow dances, Mainely Skiers. It’s paying off! Sadly, we’re looking at some not-so-favorable conditions on Sunday.

Lift Troubles Arise At Saddleback:

The Saddleback Lift Maintenance team can’t catch a break. The South Branch Quad, the chairlift that services the lower mountain and condos, has been closed for over a week with electrical problems being the cause. The Kennebago Quad, the chairlift that accesses the Kennebago Steeps has been closed since Saturday with motor and electrical problems being the setback there. Fingers crossed the team can track down these issues and get these chairs spinning soon. We’re rooting for you guys!

Just announced – Two new lifts will be taking skiers and riders up the mountains of Sunday River. A new Merrill Hill Triple will access the back side of the mountain and add to the Real Estate options and ski-in, and ski-out house lots. Also, the most highly anticipated announcement, a brand new, Doppelmayr High-Speed, 6-Person Bubble chair will replace the Barker Mountain Express. Registration for the loudest party in the east opened recently. This event runs from Friday, April 21, to Saturday, April 22. This two-day event is presented by Hight Family of Dealerships, BOSS Power Equipment, and WIN Waste Innovations. Hurry – as this event will be capped for numbers and they are sold out of most events. Register now to secure your spot!

Calling all kids 12 and under, Every Sunday at Saddleback, the Rangeley Alpine Ski Club will be co-hosting this event with the Saddleback Ski School. From 1-2, the gates will be open for racing followed by awards on the deck. contact the Ski School desk to sign up. The race takes place on skiers right of Royal Tiger, just below the Rangeley Chair. As the weather is looking right now, Friday is a no-go – well, unless you want to get wet. For all the other “fair weather” skiers, like myself, we’ll snag the first chair on Saturday. Fortanly the rain doesn’t look like it’s going to do much damage to the slopes. Pray for snow!
