Recent Blog Post About Saddleback Bike Park:
For those who missed it, last week we visited Saddleback Bike Park to see what the hype was all about. Read our experience, thoughts, and helpful tips if you want to go for yourself by reading the blog, linked below.
BigRock Mountain posted that this is the summer they say goodbye to their former double chair. The lift, a 1970 Mueller Double chair originally installed at Evergreen Valley Ski Resort. When the mountain closed in the ’80s, the double sat for around a decade before being removed and brought to BigRock. The lift enhanced the skier experience as a spot to sit with a friend or stranger and have a 10-minute conversation. Last summer, crews from Doppelmayr finished an installation on a brand new quad chair which made this double not needed anymore. For those who want one of the 120+ chairs, you can for a donation of $200 or more. Read the original post below.
On a post made to Facebook this week, the non-profit ski area announced their 2025-27 immediate goals for the mountain. On that list, they have the following “big ticket items” along with other tasks.

I wasn’t complaining about those warm temps we saw in the later part of this week. The sunshine was a welcome change from what has become the normal of clouds, rain, and cold weather.
Weather:
We’re looking at a little bit of a cool down compared to the recent temperatures. Although this brings it back to normal temps this time of year, the rain isn’t looking good. Take today or Sunday and get out, swing a club, explore the birds, or hit any of your favorite hiking trails.

We saw some heat this past week! Warm temps and sunny skies carried us through a few days this week before going right back into this cold and rainy stage. Hopefully that will all be ending as Sunday starts the month of June!
Weather:
Last week’s snow has all been melted and we’re moving on from snow. Sadly we’re just moving to thawed snow and cold-ish temps this weekend. Should be a great day to get out on the course today! Sunday too if you’re ok with your feet getting a little wet.

The new lift, which will have the same name as the double that currently sits in its place, will be called Gemini. The surveying took place last summer, and construction is expected to start in the spring.

As long as we gained more than we lost, I could keep doing this cycle! This past storm brought some crazy winds, but more importantly, over 18 inches of snow! If you were lucky enough to go to a mountain that wasn’t on wind hold, you know the snow was wet and dense – good base building material. This storm put the ski areas in better shape coming up on their spring parties.
Weather:
All that new snow we got, and are still getting, is perfect for some late-season base building. This means we’ll be skiing even later into the spring. If you’re planning on getting out this weekend, keep tabs on the mountain lift status page, linked below.
