Gear Theft Around The State:

There have been multiple incidents of theft happening around the state at various mountains. While this could be a total accident, please make sure you are putting your skis/snowboards on the racks (and remember where you put it), snapping into your skis when you head out onto the hill, and leaving for the day with your equipment. If you happen to take someone’s gear by accident, make sure to reach out to the resort that the accident happened at. It can also help put out a Facebook post on that mountain’s group. Last Chair:

What a week if you like to ski powder! With what felt like daily storms this past week bringing the 7-day total to upwards of 15 inches of snow, depending on where you go. The best news: it’s not stopping! We’re tracking some serious snow coming up. Keep doing those snow dances, Mainely Skiers.

Well… Today is windy. There’s no sugarcoating it. However, the wind will be blowing in some serious pow coming on Sunday! It might be worth taking some time off on Monday, cough cough! Last Chair:

The snow is piling up and we’re already in for a February treat! We saw storms almost every day this past week and just like the snowbanks, the stoke is building coming into the weekend. Might be worth one of those PTO days ; )

Weather:

While the snow brings excitement, the wind from this past storm might impact lift operations. Keep tabs on the Mountain Lift Status page to stay in the loop with the current lift status. We also are watching another storm on Sunday, which could bring upwards of 6 more inches of snow! Keep doing those snow dances!

Statewide Lift Construction:

Across the state, there are three mountains that are installing chairlifts. Pleasant Mountain is installing a refurbished Doppelmayr High-Speed Quad, BigRock Mountain is installing a new Doppelmayr Quad, and Lost Valley is installing a used Hall Double Chair.

Pleasant Mountain:

As of Sun, December 22

On Sunday, Pleasant Mountain opened the lift to the public. While the official ribbon cutting ceremony is happening tomorrow, you can still ride the new lift and enjoy the faster ride to the top.

BigRock Mountain:

As of Sat, December 21

On Saturday, BigRock opened the Sunrise Quad. This new quad is a gamechanger to the area.

Lost Valley:

As of Tues, January 28

On Tuesday, Lost Valley posted photos and videos showing the first chair on the new lift.

Last Chair:

This past week we saw some great skiing, albeit cold, it was great to see new snow (and not from the HKD sticks). Good news is that the new snow is continuing and we can see anywhere from 4-9 during this storm. Keep doing those snow dances, Mainely Skiers!

While we’re looking at some colder temps this weekend, the incoming snow should help make things feel a little warmer. It’s still a good idea to check in with those around you and take breaks often when skiing with little ones. Check in with the Mountain Lift Status page to stay in the loop with current lifts.

WOOO I’m glad we’re out of that one! This past week brought some serious cold. With the wind chills, we saw temps in the double digits – that is if you put a negative sign in front of it all! Thankfully, looking ahead, the sun and warmer temps are headed back! Props to everyone who braved the cold for some fresh conditions. All of our resorts we cover are once again open so check out the Resort Status page!

Weather:

The temps are looking warmer… as long as you don’t look at the lows. The silver lining for the negative numbers is that snowmakers will be cranking on all cylinders. The sun will make an appearance on Saturday (which is what I’m bidding for at Sugarloaf’s Charity Summitx Auction). This weekend might be a good one to crack into the hand warmers, the official maracas of all skiers, and keep an eye out on the little ones you’re with. Statewide Lift Construction:

Across the state, there are three mountains that are installing chairlifts. Pleasant Mountain is installing a refurbished Doppelmayr High-Speed Quad, BigRock Mountain is installing a new Doppelmayr Quad, and Lost Valley is installing a used Hall Double Chair.

Pleasant Mountain:

As of Sun, December 22

On Sunday, Pleasant Mountain opened the lift to the public. While the official ribbon cutting ceremony is happening tomorrow, you can still ride the new lift and enjoy the faster ride to the top.

BigRock Mountain:

As of Sat, December 21

On Saturday, BigRock opened the Sunrise Quad. This new quad is a gamechanger to the area.

Lost Valley:

As of Tues, December 31

On Tuesday, Lost Valley posted a video showing the first of the chairs getting hung on the line. With a goal of operating the lift for the public this season, they are chugging along.

Days Long Wind Holds:

This past week was brutal if you were a ski mountain, skier, or anyone who doesn’t like wind. As many of you know, most lifts at Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Saddleback, Pleasant Mountain, and others couldn’t operate due to high wind. While I was expecting the wind to die down after the storm over the weekend, they’ve been lingering around longer than anyone expected. We hope that they return to normal but in the meantime, keep an eye on our Mountain Lift Status page for live lift status.

Lift Troubles For The Loaf:

The SuperQuad at Sugarloaf has been down for the past two days now. While there hasn’t been any word as to what the issue is, they did share that the part has been ordered and should be installed today. The lift should be open again for Saturday. I know snow dances are a thing but maybe do your lift dance?

Last Chair:

A Christmas miracle, as some called it. On Christmas Eve the mountains saw snow… up to 8 inches to be more precise. The new snow brought higher trail counts, higher stoke, and higher crowds (keep in mind that’s the point of this week). All resorts are now open. Check out the Resort Status page!

Weather:

While we were loving our new snow and great snowmaking weather, the Grinch has teamed up with Mother Nature to throw some rain our way. We’re looking at temps in the 40’s and up to an inch of rain throughout Sunday and Monday. The good news is that we’re currently eyeing some snow in the forecast for the end of the week, which could bring anywhere from 4-8 inches. While we hope it’s the latter, any snow will be better than the dreaded thawed snow.

With the days getting shorter and the new month in the calendar, everyone is thinking about getting back on snow. For some, that was yesterday, for most, it will be either later in this month or in December. Keep an eye on these opening dates:

Titcomb Mountain Opens Tomorrow:

Titcomb will be the third mountain to open tomorrow. Their snowmaking crews have been crushing it to get the folks of Farmington back on snow despite the wacky ‘winter’ weather we’ve had. First T should go up the hill at 9:00am. Check out their website below.

Statewide Lift Construction:

Across the state, there are three mountains that are installing chairlifts. Pleasant Mountain is installing a refurbished Doppelmayr High-Speed Quad, BigRock Mountain is installing a new Doppelmayr Quad, and Lost Valley is installing a used Hall Double Chair.

Please Note: Due to lift construction, hiking at Pleasant Mountain is currently prohibited.

Pleasant Mountain:

As of Wed, December 18

On Wednesday, Pleasant Mountain shared a video to Facebook and Instagram showing the lift getting load tested. Check out the interesting video here: facebook.com

BigRock Mountain:

As of Mon, October 21

On Monday, BigRock posted some photos of their new chair getting a load test with boxes filled with water to simulate people. You can also see some technicians from Doppelmayr working on the programming side of the new Doppelmayr Connect system.

Lost Valley:

As of Fri, November 22

On Friday, Lost Valley posted a photo showing the final concrete poor of the season, the bottom terminal.

Last Chair:

While this week gave us a little bit of new snow, we did receive some rain… you know, just to keep things interesting. On a better note, we’re now in a cold front that expected to stay few days. Keep an eye on our Resort Status page to be the first to know about opening and snowmaking information.

Saturday kicks off Christmas Vacation Week and it’s looking like a cold one. Make sure to look out for your fellow skiers, especially those young rippers, as frostbite could happen. Check in with the Mountain Lift Status page as the cold front means great snowmaking weather. Keep an eye out for new lifts and new terrain!

Last Chair:

This week we all got flashbacks from last December when everything was wiped out due to rain. While we didn’t get 6-8 inches of the bad stuff, it was enough to throw a wrench into the snowmaker’s plans. Keep an eye on our Resort Status page to be the first to know about opening and snowmaking information.

Weather:

After that slight hiccup, snowmakers have once again returned to the hill to resurface everything and return the trails to tip-top shape. Check in with the Mountain Lift Status page as the cold front means great snowmaking weather. Keep an eye out for new lifts and new terrain!
