Phew, I’m glad that… whatever it was, is done and snowmakers can return to the hill to refresh everything. I guess it wasn’t all bad since some mountains picked up 6 inches of snow. The good news is that the fresh snow was mixed into the existing snow, making for a smoother surface.
Weather:
It’s going to be a chilly one out there this weekend! Make sure you are protected from the cold and wind with face coverings, gloves, and goggles. Take breaks often, espically if you’re skiing with little ones.

While Mt. Abram originally wanted to open today, they decided to push it back to tomorrow due to the weather. I think you’ll appreciate that, so the snowpack stays good. Read their mountain report for the details.
Big Moose Mountain just announced that they are doubling uphill capacity, carrying more skiers and riders to the summit of Big Moose Mountain, with their latest purchase of a 12-passenger BR275 snow cat. The new cat will serve as their primary way up to the top and will provide uninterrupted service to their 2,950’ summit during peak riding days.
To help bring this investment to Moosehead, the mountain is pre-selling a limited number of 10-pack punch cards for $250, as well as 8 summit sponsorships that include custom lettering on the cat and a private ski day for your group for $2,500. Either option makes a perfect gift of experience this holiday season and supports a local non-profit ski mountain. For all the details, click the link below.

This week was looking good, but around Wednesday, we all knew something bad was coming. Thankfully, it’s just looking like today has the issues and we should be returning to normal rather quickly.
Weather:
What a wacky day! High winds, rain, and some mountains are closed. Maybe today is an ‘inside day’ made for games and relaxing, getting yourself ready to hit the trails hard this weekend. After this short hiccup, temps will drop, testing the grooming teams across the state. Keep an eye on the current lift status with our Mountain Lift Status page.

Well Mainely Skiers, with five mountains to choose from by Saturday, I figured I should leave it short and sweet this week so you have all the time you need to get your gear prepped for the season.
Snowmaking temps continued throughout the week, allowing the resorts to open with lots of trails, and the resorts already open able to expand quickly.
Weather:
This weekend will be a chilly one, so make sure you have good base layers. The lows will dip to around -7, with the wind chill making it feel even lower. Make sure you don’t have exposed skin, take breaks, and look out for little ones as frost bite could happen in these temperatures. For those planning some weekday skiing, you will also want to bundle up as next week, temps drop.

Snowmaking continued through the early parts of the week, but came to a screeching halt when temps that were closer to 50 degrees came to town. Thankfully, we’re watching it briefly return to normal this weekend.
Weather:
Briefly is the big name this weekend. Look at those forecasted temps. We’re looking forward to a nice little dip in the weather, which will allow the snowmakers to get back out… but briefly. It’s looking like we’ll have another warmup starting Sunday night and continuing throughout the early part of next week.

Today, Sugarloaf sent the first skiers and riders up the mountain and has opened for the 2025-26 ski season. The two Boyne-owned resorts are open, but that’s not stopping the snowmakers and groomers from getting out there and working extremely hard to bring us an incredible early-season product.
Weather:
The cold temps were here for the majority of the week, but things will warm up slightly today. The temperatures will return to normal snowmaking weather as we progress further into the weekend. This is great news for Saddleback, Pleasant Mountain, BigRock, and Black Mountain of Maine for their snowmaking efforts.

When trick or treating later tonight, make sure to walk on sidewalks or paths at all times. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as far to the left as possible. Watch for cars that are turning or backing up. Never dart out into the street or cross between parked cars. Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colored costumes.
If going door-to-door isn’t your style, make sure to watch for kids. Drive slowly and take extra time to look for kids at intersections. Enter and exit driveways slowly and carefully. Get rid of any distractions, like your phone, so you can concentrate on the road and your surroundings. Turn your headlights on earlier in the day to spot children from greater distances. Popular trick-or-treating hours are 4:30pm. to 9:30pm but be aware all day long.

Surprisingly, that early-season snowfall has been holding on nicely at the summits of Sugarloaf and Saddleback. The incoming rain, however, might wash it away. All eyes are now on the first week of November! Start to do those snow dances, and I guess add cold weather dances to your routine as well.
Weather:
If you’re headed out to trick or treat tonight, make sure to add an umbrella to your costume as it will be wet out there! Make sure you’re wearing reflective objects as the rain will make it next to impossible to see people on the roads.
We’re looking at some cold temperatures this weekend and Killington has already shared they are anticipating to fire up a record-breaking 196 snow guns. It is possible that we see either Sugarloaf or Sunday River fire up, even if it’s just for a short time. If they don’t end up making snow, don’t worry as after the short hiccup next Monday and Tuesday, the lows will be perfect for peak performance.

I wasn’t complaining about those warm temps we saw in the later part of this week. The sunshine was a welcome change from what has become the normal of clouds, rain, and cold weather.
Weather:
We’re looking at a little bit of a cool down compared to the recent temperatures. Although this brings it back to normal temps this time of year, the rain isn’t looking good. Take today or Sunday and get out, swing a club, explore the birds, or hit any of your favorite hiking trails.
