    Bike Shops:

We all know the supply chain is a little slow these days. Sometimes getting the item you want at the right time is a struggle. On the bright side, most Maine bike shops are filled with inventory and ready to get you onto a new bike! In the market for some new wheels? Stop by your local shop and see what they have. Their numbers might surprise you! After all, mountain biking is on the rise in Maine – jump on the trend early!

    Saddleback Webcams:

Have you visited the Saddleback Webcams? With three cameras scattered across the mountain, you’re guaranteed to get the best sunset. You can go back in time if you missed the best part. While you can catch some pretty amazing sunsets, you also are able to watch crews working. You can see some chairs were taken off the Rangeley last Friday for their annual NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) on 30% of the chairs. You can go back in time to 5/13 at 12:10:00, you’ll be able to see the lift spinning. Plus, if you zoom in, you can see someone flipping the chair cushions up for the summer. Click the link below to see them get ready for the summer season!

    Nature Walk and Geocaching:

Are your kids itching to get out of the house? Maybe some geocaching is in their future! Or, something for the whole family, a good ol’ walk in our back yard! Whatever you fancy, Saddleback has your outdoor goals. As the time gets closer, we’ll go into more detail.

    Height of Land Vandalism:

While I like to keep these emails positive, vandalism has been a hot topic in the Rangeley area in recent years. The overlook gold plaque was stolen and destroyed last summer. Sadly, to start this summer season, vandals have cut down the information kiosk at the Shelton Noyes Overlook in Rangeley. If you know anything about this horrible act, please Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at (207) 778-2680.

    Weather:

As this week sent us cooler weather and forced most of us back into pants and sweatshirts, I can’t say the weekend will be any better. We’re looking at thundershowers throughout all three days. While most of the indoor activities start in the coming weeks, you still can do things inside.

We’ve really been having some strange weather events this early in the spring. Just hoping we can ski until late April! To make sure, check with the extended forecast via the Weather Channel. Also, check out the lift status by clicking the link below!

    Scenic Lift Rides:

Before summer started, we talked about various mountains offering lift rides throughout the off-season. Sunday River has picked it up again with rides up/down the Chondola to North Peak. The Chondola is dog, kid, and grandparent-friendly, so you’ll want to pack up your whole family for this scenic adventure. Lift rides are available from 10AM-4PM on Saturdays and Sundays from early July to mid-October. You can buy tickets online in advance, but will need to pick up your tickets upon arrival. You can also purchase tickets on-site at South Ridge Lodge. Lift tickets will be issued until 3:30PM or until capacity is reached. If you plan to ride the lift back to the bottom, please load before 4PM. For more information, visit the link below.

    Weather:

Woah! What a week! While most of Maine saw temps around the 80’s, the mountains experienced 90’s. With school sports starting up, this definitely doesn’t feel like we are going towards the fall direction. Thankfully, this weekend’s forecast looks like we will be able to cool down a little bit before it gets right back up there!

    Enjoy this short heat break!
